Military sources said that Russia’s Terminator tank support combat vehicle (BMPT) can withstand missile attacks from the US Javelin complex.
“Battlefield experience shows that, thanks to its enhanced armor, the BMPT Terminator can withstand attacks from the Javelin anti-tank missile system, as well as other anti-tank weapons and grenade launchers produced by NATO. After being hit, the vehicle only needs a little repair on the battlefield to fully restore its combat capabilities,” said Uralvagonzavod (UVZ), developer of BMPT Terminator.

According to the source, the advantage of the BMPT is its enhanced armor, superior to the armor of main tanks in the Russian army, as well as a multi-channel weapon system for Fire magic attacks 4 to 5 targets simultaneously.
In addition, field combat experience, including the ‘trial by fire’ process in the Ukrainian battlefield, has proven that the BMPT has much better visual coverage than most existing tanks, thus should help the crew increase situational awareness. BMPT also has a higher target acquisition speed for weapons.

“All this increases the combat effectiveness of tank units, especially when operating in urban environments, where enemy infantry can use anti-tank weapons fired from unexpected angles coming, even from above. BMPT promptly responded to these attacks and crushed the enemy, partly thanks to the advantage of being equipped with a 30 mm cannon capable of penetrating the walls of houses where the enemy was hiding,” the source said.
BMPT Terminator was developed by the Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) company and put into active duty in Russia in 2018. Each vehicle is equipped with 2 30 mm 2A42 guns, 4 9M120-1 Ataka guided missile launchers with laser guidance system, 2 AGS-17 grenade launchers and an upgraded 7.62 mm Kalashnikov machine gun for tanks.

The first contract to supply Terminator to the Russian army was signed at the Army-2017 Forum.
The exact number of BMPT vehicles of this type in the Russian army is unknown. In November 2021, it was reported that one of the tank regiments of the Central Military Region will be staffed with 9 vehicles of this type before December 1.
According to public sources, the Russian army has received delivery of 10 BMPT Terminators.
