CeeDee Lamb Tells Former Cowboys WR to ‘Chill’ Over Social Media Dispute

It’s the offseason in the National Football League but the Dallas Cowboys are never too far away from the headlines. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have been in the news for one reason or another.

More recently, there was a little panic among Cowboys fans when Dak Prescott was spotted wearing a protective boot in Cabo San Lucas. However, the face of the franchise quelled any concerns regarding an injury, saying that his ankle swelled up the last time he went deep sea fishing so the protective boot was just a precaution.

Last night, however, CeeDee Lamb was in the news for a different reason altogether. Lamb was spotted adopting a somewhat unique regimen to work on his change of direction on the field. Former Dallas Cowboys wideout Cole Beasley took note of Lamb’s workout, tweeting:

“Man just do some heavy squats and power cleans.”

When some fans posed the question as to whether Beasley was teaching Lamb how to work out, Beasley responded with:

“Give me 180 targets off the couch and I eclipse 1,000 [yards]. Stop looking at stats and check the tape. As far as getting open goes… I’m confident I did that with the best of them.”

Lamb took umbrage at Beasley’s take. The 2023 All-Pro playmaker responded, saying:

“I don’t need 180 targets to touch a band. Pull up tape, I’d match you route for route on getting open. Just Chill.”

CeeDee Lamb’s contract negotiations dragging on well into the summer

Both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s contracts are up for extension this offseason but the Dallas Cowboys appear to have made little progress on that front.

Prescott is currently in the final year of his $160 million contract but the quarterback market is currently booming. The Jacksonville Jaguars recently made Trevor Lawrence the highest-paid quarterback in the league (going by average annual value) with a $275 million deal that averages $55 million a year.

Since the Jaguars have now set the precedent, Prescott could very well become the first $60M-a-year quarterback in the National Football League. When it comes to his teammate CeeDee Lamb though, another historic precedent could serve its purpose.

The Minnesota Vikings made Justin Jefferson the highest-paid wide receiver in the league with a four-year, $140 million contract. Jefferson is now the highest-paid non-QB in the league.

CeeDee Lamb’s next contract, then, could likely be in the $32M-a-year range. Spread out over four years, that’s $128 million, which would represent decent value for the 3x Pro Bowler.
