It’s not by accident that people give Japan the title “alien country”, because it possesses so many strange things that surprise first-time visitors. Among them, the train system always leaves the deepest impression.
Everyone knows about a normal subway, so have you ever seen a train… hanging upside down in the air? Recently, a TikTok clip showing a close-up of this unique means of transportation has attracted nearly 9 million views, more than 1.1 million likes, 22k comments and 36k shares from netizens.
In the video, a train decorated with many vivid drawings can be seen passing on a “unique” upside-down rail system. Sitting on it, the Japanese man felt like he was floating through the streets and the peaceful rural scene below.
A video on TikTok made viewers surprised when they first witnessed a ship hanging upside down gliding through the air.
It is known that this upside-down subway system is also called Monorail (known as Monoreru in Japanese) – a single-rail transportation system that acts as a support and guidance system for the train.
In Japan, this number of trains running on one track has appeared for a long time and is currently only popular in certain areas. These include the Shonan Monorail system in Kanagawa Prefecture or the Urban Monorail system in Chiba Prefecture.

In the clip, the guy introduces TikTok users to the hanging train system at the Chiba Urban Monorail. This is known as the longest upside-down monorail train in the world today. Its entire length is 15.2 km with 2 train lines and 18 cars in total. The first train line was launched in 1988, the second section was established 11 years later.

Currently, visitors can experience this ship with a Pasmo card – an automatic payment card often used by people here on public transport. The ticket price for a ride on the Chiba suspension train ranges from 620 yen (about 135,000 VND) for adults.
