Did Olympics Pick Right MVP?

Stephen Curry’s 2024 Olympic run will go down in the books. Although he didn’t have a consistent stretch, the Golden State Warriors star saved his best for life. Curry scored 60 points in the final two games, including a marvelous gold medalperformance in which he converted eight 3-point shots.Stephon Marbury, a basketball legend in China and a former New York Knicks, thinks Curry deserves more for his efforts.“They gave the MVP to the wrong player. Maybe they called out the wrong name by accident,” Marbury said on X (formerly known as Twitter).LeBron James earned the Olympic MVP over Curry, as the Los Angeles Lakers star consistently produced throughout the grand event. James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists (second in the Olympics). While Curry’s last two efforts deserve praise, consistency matters. However, Marbury claims he saw something spiritual on the court when Curry played poetry in motion during the Olympics. “I saw a spirit on the court playing,” Marbury said on Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson’s Scoop B Radio Podcast. An aura of euphoria came over the arena; even those not actively rooting for Team USA were in awe of Curry’s mastery-the lengths Curry shoots put most to shame. Regardless of the imitators, there is only one player in the league with the power to put a smile on even the harshest skeptic.Curry’s run ended how it was supposed to, with gold around his neck and embracing his teammates. “Failing” to win Olympic MVP doesn’t negate the feelings he provided and exuded in his gold medal victory.
