A fearful father ended up fighting off a 12-and-a-half-foot tiger shark after the fish jumped his line during a fishing trip.
Christian Haltermann, 36, ended up reeling in the giant reef while enjoying a day by the water at Padre Island National Seashore off Texas.
Christian Haltermann caught the tiger shark while fishing with his 8-year-old son
Christian managed to wrestle the shark to shore after a 2 1/2 hour fight.
He released the sandbank into the sea after marking and measuring it.
The father was taking his 8-year-old son on a fishing trip, as it was the same place his own father had taught him to fish.
Christian is a regular visitor to the park, coming twice a month to have fun and try to get a catch.
But he was surprised when he felt the huge shark tip on his line.
By far the greatest thing he had ever accomplished, Christian fought the threat to shore in a two-and-a-half-hour long fight.
Christian, from Kyle, Texas, told The Caller Times: “I knew right away that it was bigger. We knew it was big for sᴜre.”
She then posed with him before releasing him into the ocean.
Dad had placed a 10-pound stingray bait in the water and then waited with his small 9-foot rods.
And then he ended up fighting the 150-minute match with the capture.
His son went for help and brought two other buffers who helped Christian make the vast majority a reality.
Tiger sharks are some of the best predators in the world – they are armed with a powerful jaw of 48 sharp teeth.
The buttresses have been redesigned in sizes up to 16.5 feet.
However, luckily for his new toothy friend, Christian had no interest in keeping him, and instead let her go on her way.
Christian volunteers at the park and takes measurements of any smoothies he drinks and labels them.
He determined the shark was a female, measured its gigantic size of 12.5 feet, and then released its school into the sea.
“I never want to take them out of the water because the priority is being released,” Christian said.
“We took the hooks out, had a few pints of qᴜiᴄk and sent her on her way, but she was very lively and swam out of the ordinary.”
He added: “I have a few tiger sharks over ten feet and even more over nine feet, but nothing over 12.
“That was a new Benᴄhmаrk we were trying to achieve and it’s so good that we got it.”
