The band performed their first full-length performance in Los Angeles on September 5. On the same day, the band released the title track of their new album – The Emptiness Machine . The MV has now reached over a million views on YouTube after half a day of posting. Most fans are excited about the comeback, looking forward to the “new era” of the group. In the comments section, many fans remembered Chester Bennington, commenting that Emily Armstrong had a good voice but could not replace her predecessor. However, they believe that she will continue Bennington’s legacy, helping his music live forever.

One account wrote: “I cried when I heard the new song. In the chorus, Emily reminded me of Chester’s strong voice. It’s clear that she can’t and will never replace him. I think the members have found the perfect element to start everything again but never forget Chester. I appreciate the decision to bring a female vocalist into the band. In my opinion, it’s an important choice. I support you guys.”

According to the press release, the former foursome of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn have been “quietly seeing each other over the years.” They have collaborated with many musicians and “found a special connection with Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain.”

Speaking about the comeback, Mike Shinoda said: “Before we were Linkin Park, we were Xero. This album title represents our humble beginnings and the path we are on. The record tells the story of the past, present and future of the band, so we will keep the familiar musical style but with a new and vibrant feel. The project is made with the band’s deep gratitude for new and long-time members, family, and fans. We are proud of Linkin Park’s achievements and look forward to the days ahead.”

Shinoda also said of the two new members: “The more we work with Emily and Colin, the more we love their world-class talent and the work we create together.”

Linkin Park formed in 1996 and have released seven albums. Meteora, their second album released in 2003, is their most successful, selling 27 million copies worldwide. The band’s most recent release, One More Light, was released in May 2017. Two months later, lead singer Chester Bennington passed away at his home in Los Angeles. Bennington’s death at the age of 41 shocked his bandmates, many international stars and the fan community.

Before joining Linkin Park, Emily Armstrong founded the band Dead Sara and was active with the group in the 2000s. She started her career at the age of 15, and was praised by many for her voice that could be compared to rock n roll legend Janis Joplin. About Colin Brittain, he is an American music producer who has worked with many artists and bands. Currently, there is not much information about Brittain. Both were born in 1986.
